This week you will have two options to choose from. Please choose ONE of the following topic areas for this week's discussion. Make sure that you fully answer all of the questions and reference the material that we covered this week.

• OPTION #1: Based on this week's readings and your personal work experience, how can emotional intelligence make someone a better leader? Please address specific areas of emotional intelligence (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management). Do you think that a low level of emotional intelligence always makes it harder to be an effective leader? Why or why not?

• OPTION #2: Yvonne and Rachel both work in product development. Rachel, while a good worker, is a procrastinator and tends to wait until the last minute to get her work done but always gets it done. Yvonne keeps on top of her work daily. Yvonne complains she feels she has to worry now about Rachel's work and her own. And, because they rely on each other for certain tasks, she is uncomfortable with waiting until an hour or so before a deadline when they are forced to collaborate.Because of the conflict, Rachel is missing more work and you suspect its because she wants to avoid Yvonne and her wrath.Given what you have learned about leadership styles and conflict management, how would you help Yvonne and Rachel resolve this situation? How would you motivate them to continue to collaborate?
