Throughout this course, you and your peers will create a coding community where you can ask each other questions, share ideas, and build your skills together. In your initial post for this discussion, introduce yourself to your peers, briefly state which program you are in, and discuss your career aspirations. Then, address the following:

Name one event or person that influenced you to pursue a degree in your field.

What is your comfort level with programming?

Which skills are you most confident in?

Which skills need the most improvement?

What strategies do you plan to use to manage your time and complete assignments in this course?

Reflect on the material you reviewed in Module One. What questions do you have so far?

Choose one of the following activities, or an equivalent process:

Getting to class or work

Dropping your kids off at school

Preparing a meal

Then, write out the algorithm (no more than 10 steps) that you would need to do to complete that task. For example, for dropping your kids off at school, you could start with "Wake kids up."

Hi all,

My name is Lawton Miller I am 23 years old and I live in Minneapolis. I am currently work in a desktop support role and am studying computer science. I think my interest in computers started from a young age playing computer games, then into doing video and picture editing in high school. With this base interest, when I wasn't sure what I wanted to do as a career I leaned on my tech skills to work in cellular and AV jobs before I decided to go back to school for computer science.

I would say I have a solid base in programming and look forward to advancing my skills. In the last few courses here at SNHU I feel like implementing functions is something that is a strength for me as I really enjoy thinking modularly and putting projects together like building blocks. I feel like throughout my journey here one thing that has been difficult is jumping from course to course and feeling like I lose progress in one language before feeling like I've mastered it and I would love to be able to develop my skills thoroughly in one or two languages before moving on. One of my favorite strategies for time management may be counter intuitive for a CS student but I really find writing my priorities down in a notebook and keeping it on my desk keeps me honest with my goals.

Algorithm for making my morning coffee:

Throw away yesterdays filter

Rinse coffee pot

Place new filter in machine

Load ground coffee into machine

Fill pot with water

Pour water into machine

Turn on machine

Wait

Pour/Enjoy

Respond to this, please:

What did you find interesting or relatable in your peers' posts?

Based on what you wrote in your post, consider sharing a tip that you have learned for managing your time in online courses.

Do you have the same questions as your peers? If so, let your peers know so your instructor can support you and your classmates.

Compare your algorithm with that of your classmates. Is the order the same? Are the steps similar? Are there additional steps you would have included based on your own routines for these activities?
