Topic: SWOT Analysis and Presentation

Scenario:

Subway, Inc. (SI) was one of the fastest growing fast-food franchises for thirty years after the start of this company. Currently, SI has more stores worldwide than McDonalds.

Since the start of the COVID 19 era, two years ago, SI has experienced operational and growth-related problems, and its position as the leading fast-food franchisee is in jeopardy.

The corporate management of SI has decided to take some corrective actions, based on the output of a quick SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis. Your organization has been asked to conduct a SWOT analysis of SI and make a presentation in which the findings of the SWOT analysis and recommendations for follow-up actions by SI cooperate management are covered. This project must be completed in six weeks.

In this assignment, your project team will go through two phases, Phase A (SWOT Analysis Report preparation),and Phase B (PowerPoint presentation of SWOT Analysis and recommendations for actions)

Assignment

For the class project, the assignment requires each project group to quickly carry out a SWOT analysis for Subway, Inc, and present the results of the SWOT analysis , and recommended follow-up actions in a PowerPoint (PP) presentation to the corporate management of SI.

A. SWOT Analysis Report

Initially, each member of the group will individually conduct the SWOT analysis and make follow-up recommendations. These output of the SWOT analysis and recommended follow-up actions will be passed on to the Group/Team Leader (GL) in an Individual report about one week before the due date for submission of the group report. The individual reports will be in the form of a formal note in which the author describes the proposed solution(s), along with the pros and cons of the solution(s).

During the last two weeks of project schedule, all members will collectively prepare the Final Report (FR) under the leadership of the GL. The format and content of the FR should comply with the requirements specified in the suggested outline and content of the FR. The individual reports will be included in the FR as appendices.

B. PowerPoint Presentation

The Presentation is a methodology for illustrating and explaining information to stakeholders in an organization. You will use the Microsoft PowerPoint tool to create a presentation for the leadership of the organization you chose for this Project. The SWOT Analysis you did provides the context for the presentation, and you will use the attributes you identified in your SWOT Table to justify the recommendations you will make for improvements to the organization.

The goal of the Presentation is to inform your audience, the senior leadership of the organization, of the internal and external factors most critical to the health of the organization, and recommend alternatives (e.g., Information Technology) that can help mitigate weaknesses and threats.

For additional guidance concerning PowerPoint Presentation, read the attachment titled Tips for a good PowerPoint Presentation.

Now that you have completed a SWOT Analysis on the organization you chose, it is time to create a PowerPoint presentation that will be submitted through the Assignments folder and presented in the class.

The presentation should include/cover the items listed below. There should be 10 to 12 PP slides (not including Title and Reference slides):

1. Title slide - the title of presentation, company/organization name, your name, course, and date of submission.

2. Purpose briefly describe the purpose of the presentation and a summary of the organization, including the business the organization is in (e.g., retail, production, technology services, education, etc.)

3. SWOT Findings - 6-7 slides including a slide with the SWOT Table you created. Use slides and notes to explain the businesss strengths and weaknesses, as well as opportunities and threats it faces in the marketplace. In addition to the SWOT Table, each quadrant (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) should have its own slide and in-depth Notes. Last, answer the question: how are the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats interconnected?

4 Recommendations 2-3 slides describing recommendations based on the SWOT analysis; how can the information system components (hardware, software, data, people, processes) contribute to overcoming external barriers and bettering the health of the organization?

5 Summary/Conclusion synthesize the presentation what were the most important points?

6 References - cite at least two resources with APA formatted citation and reference.
