Understanding Human Behaviour in the Organization

 

This assignment is a group assignment working in a group or team to research, to discuss, to analyze and to fully understand Human Behavior within an organizational setting. 

Groups can include 2-4 students

Research materials should include: books, or power point slides, business / marketing/advertising journals (e.g., Advertising Age), biographies, newspapers, and the Internet.   

 Due Date: Week11

The project will result in a Power Point Presentation that highlights the information in the Group paper.  The project will be completed in the following incremental 

Step #1 - Select a business or corporation that will be the basis of your presentation and paper.  The business or corporation may be local, national or international.

Step #2 - Oral Presentation on the research findings (Power Point Presentation) (Week 11, Zoom online classroom) (We will use as much class time as needed to complete the presentations, our zoom scheduled meeting times may change, I will give advance notice ahead of time.

What should be included? - I. History - When? Where? Founders? Products? Business Philosophy. II. Leadership/Management Style - Who or what led to the company's success or failure? EXAMPLE: Facebook -Founder, Bill Gates - Microsoft, or Walt Disney - Disney, Apple - Steve Jobs etc. III. Organizational Culture - Describe the organizational culture in this business or corporation. Do they embrace a team oriented culture etc.? Identify and describe the organizational culture within this business or corporation, do they value diversity? IV Organizational Chart - Describe the organizational structure, what type of structure does the organization have, is it hierarchical, functional etc. V. Ethical Power and Politics - How does this business treat their workers, Are there any special initiatives that the company engages its people in? How ethical are they viewed in the business or industry in which they operate based on how they treat workers? (E.g. do they have sweat shops, do they engage in child labor, do workers work in good environments and conditions) Do they do fair trade etc. VI. Conclusion - Do you see success or failure in the future? Summarize how the organization is viewed in general either on a local or international viewpoint as well as its treatment of workers. Individual Responsibilities - Each group member must contribute by using their strengths in research, creative writing, and computer software skills. (Please allow for each member of the group to present a portion of the presentation from the power point slides created.) Presentations should be 5 minutes long. Submitting the Paper - Please ensure that your presentation have a cover sheet, a bibliography. and a list of references must be included. Please submit on the date identified for submission.
