Writing Assignment #2
Question #1. This document is an example of the formatting used to make a writing
assignment (WA or essay). Each essay is 250 words in length. When all the essays are structured in a similar format it is easier for me to view and grade; and that is to your advantage. The biographical information is placed on the upper left side of the page and the title in the middle. These are NOT part of the word count. Also, before you submit your essay, review for sentence structure, punctuation, and spelling. It is a good idea to write a rough draft first and then go back and revise it.
The pages and numbers of the questions for the writing assignments as well as the due dates are in the CLASS SCHEDULE chart or table of the syllabus. For the "Introduction" essay (WA#1) you only need to write one paragraph of 250 words. For each of the 3 text Writing Assignments, there are 2 questions for EACH which are also answered in 250. Divide your responses into Question #1 and Question #2; do not write the number of the text question (#3 or #7). I know you will do your best, and I look forward to reading your essays. These responses are a significant part of this course, so use your best writing skills. Question #2.
When reviewing your writing assignment, make sure you have answered the correct question within the word count parameters and that your response makes sense. Deductions may result if your answer is confusing, too short, or too long. Double
space the essay and do not use any italics, bold, or underlining. Keep it simple. Do not repeat the question. Write your responses in a MS Word document or PDF format. After your assignment is graded, don't forget to read the instructor feedback (comments) for each writing assignment within 2 days after it is graded. Don't wait for a long time to review your feedback; use this information to possibly improve the next time.
It is important that you use your own words in answering the text questions. Do not go to another source or a student paper other than the text to cut and paste your response. Do not copy directly from the text. These are examples of copying and is not tolerated by the instructor or the university. You will receive. an "Originality Score" and the system will flag any copying content. If the score is high (over 20%) this means that you may have copied from other sources. This may result in a deduction of points for your essay or other serious consequences. Critically thinking about your individual ideas and then formulating your own personal response is the goal of all writing assignments.)
