Sally works at a grocery store (Character A). Joe is her supervisor (Character B). She is very bored with her work and dreams of working as a manicurist at the salon next door. It takes place in a small town in North Carolina. Its the middle of the summer, very hot and humid. Its about 5:00pm, Sally has been working all day. Joe loves his job and thinks Sally is beautiful. But, he has never told anyone he likes her. Until today.

Interior, aisle of cereal in store. JOE walks over to SALLY who is sitting on the floor, looking at a hair and nail magazine.

JOE (Shyly, as he hides flowers behind his back.)

Hi.

SALLY (Totally engrossed, ignores him.)

Hello.

JOE (Does a little tap dance to try to get her attention. It doesnt work, so he says:)

How are you?

SALLY (Getting annoyed that hes talking to her.)

Fine, thank you.

JOE (He trips, as he says his line, over his own feet and falls to the ground, the flowers go flying across her lap.)

Please.

SALLY (as she looks at the flowers and sees him, and realizes they are for her.)

What?
