(Using "Cisco Packet Tracer student" provided in this courses laboratory segment, prove that the suggested network is feasible. Provide test results that show connectivity.) Your team has been selected to submit a network design proposal for a new university, the Matt Institute of Technology (M.I.T). Follow the engineering design process and present a detailed design document, including all costs, equipment and their location, as well as a complete address map. MITs campus map is shown below.
1) General Studies Building is a two-story structure. The first floor is solely dedicated to classrooms, while the second floor includes classrooms and the General Studies Department faculty and staff offices.
2) General Science laboratories building
The Physics Labs is located on the 1st floor
The Biology Labs is located on the 2nd floor
The Chemistry Labs are located in the 3rd floor
3) The universitys dining hall and cafeteria are located in another stand-alone building. This building also includes the general store and gift shop.
**Design a network infrastructure that provides LAN and Internet access as follows:**
1. MIT has requested that you design a Wi-Fi network capable of providing Internet access campus wide.
2. The administration building houses 50 employees. Each needs LAN and Internet access to their workstations.
3. The library has 50 workstations for student use. They require Internet access. There are 20 staff workstations that require LAN and Internet access.
4. The data and communications center houses MITs gateway to the Internet, servers for all shared services, and 50 workstations for student use. The students stations require internet access (but not LAN connectivity). All other hosts in this area require both LAN and Internet access.
5. All other buildings, except the dormitories, require LAN for staff and faculty workstations.
6. The dormitories only require Wi-Fi Internet access for every floor and bedroom. Each bedroom is equipped with one telephone unit. The RAs office in the lobby requires LAN connectivity.
7. Telephone service campus wide is provided using VoIP technology.
8. The data center also houses MITs Web servers. The university has a public Website,
as well as a private Intranet.
**Your design MUST:**
1. Use acceptable methods to calculate Internet bandwidth requirements. As an engineer, you are to advise MIT of their public and private bandwidth needs. For example, suggest the bandwidth required for Internet access from the ISPs. Make sure that you consider redundancy in your suggestions. You should also include suggestions for public IP addresses (how many?).
2. Calculate Intranet and Wi-Fi bandwidth requirements.
3. Provide a detailed network design sketch. Include all access points, switch and router positioning. Clearly illustrate MITs backbone, as well as provide for robustness and redundancy for all network services.
4. Include the equipment required and their prices. Mention each item by name, use and price, but do not include a specifications sheet for each network appliance.
5. Provide a rough estimate of the networks electric power needs, and suggest
appropriate power back-up devices.
6. Develop a campus wide private addressing scheme. What type of routing is to be implemented? Where?
7. Your design you must include the reasons for using, or not using, virtual LANs in the network.
