The occupation that stood out most for me was a private household cook. Many tasks and skills go into being a personal chef such as; finger dexterity, organization, planning, and critical thinking. My adaptability is something I see fitting well with this career. As told by Pardes (2016), "Where the real skill comes in is learning how to adapt quickly and how not to freak out." (Para. 1) Whether it is making food I am not familiar with or working with different families I can accommodate to what the job requires of me. I have a big family so making food for a household every day is something I am accustomed to. Not having a lot of money meant I would have to budget and organize what meals we would have every week. It turned into something I enjoy doing. As I said in my introduction, cooking is a hobby of mine. Working with new types of cuisine and giving it a beautiful presentation is very satisfying. A challenge I see in this career field is not having time to spend with family. Most listings on indeed required lunch and dinner to be made, while staying late to leave breakfast for the owners. They also included going on trips with the family to cook for them and their associates. Most job listings I have found offer a great salary including holidays and weekends.
