We are certainly living through a time of multiple changes, and the need for flexibility and adaptability by everyone. These are interesting times. So change is magnified during this pandemic.

Typically we look at Change as anything that alters an organizations environment, structure, technology or people. It would make a supervisor's job easier if we had less change! Then there would be less planning, re-planning, training, etc. But we all know that change is a reality. Handling change is part of a supervisor's job.

  1. Give some examples of changes that have affected supervisors in your organization, or your department. Describe the impact of those changes on the staff.
  2. How might you know that an employee is resistant to a change? How does their perception of the change impact their resistance tot he change?
  3. How do you see the role of a supervisor as a champion of a change? How can the supervisor's behaviour impact the adoption or resistance of the change?
