We will begin working on the final project this week by reviewing potential datasets. The purpose of the final project is for you to visually showcase data by identifying appropriate sources of data, scraping and cleaning data, and presenting those data in different formats. The first step in this process is to identify the data that you would like to analyze. Consider the following questions when selecting potential datasets: Does the data environment interest you? (i.e. financial data, social media data, etc.) Does the data content interest you? (i.e. professional athlete financial data, etc.) Does the dataset contain enough variables for deep exploration? (We will cover this further later, just consider the depth and breadth of the datasets for now.) Find three different, open-source datasets and write a 1-page APA paper offering a brief synopsis of the dataset. Include the overview of the data, what interests you about it, and where you found it. You may search online for the datasets; check out Free Data Sources for Data Visualization site.
