Dave gets angry when he sees his girlfriend Paula talking to Bill in the college gym before a basketball game. Dave grabs Paula by the wrist and starts to pull her out of the gym. Paula says she wants to stay for the game. Dave says "No, we are leaving." and drags her out of the gym. Dave pushes Paula into his car and slams the door, bruising Paula's head. Dave then drives away with Paula screaming to let her go. Dave drives her to a remote wooded area. Dave gets some rope from his trunk and ties Paula to a tree. Dave then holds his pocket knife to Paula's throat and tells her to "Shut up". Dave tears off Paula's shirt and carves the word "unfaithful "on her stomach with his pocketknife. Dave then leaves Paula tied to the tree. About an hour later, Paula is bitten by a rattlesnake and dies from the poison.
