What Should Ryan Do? You and your friend Ryan had dinner last night and just before you
Question:
What Should Ryan Do?
You and your friend Ryan had dinner last night and just before you parted ways, Ryan told you of his plan for the summer of 2023, to buy a new car from a dealer. He is currently studying in his 2nd semester with a full course load and also has a part-time job. It doesn't sound like he is completely sure if he should buy a new car, or just stick to using the TTC to travel. But he is not happy with the snow & cold and seems pretty keen, saying if he does get a car, it will make his life easier, saying that it would be more convenient for him to travel, and he would not need to rush all the time to get to his destinations or endure the cold. He says taking the TTC to travel costs him $110 per month, but if he takes a car to travel, he figures it would cost him on average (including gas, insurance, and all the required aspects in keeping a car running), about $350 per month. But he says this would mean more time available to work since he would be spending less time traveling. He got off the bus saying, you're now my best friend in Canada, what do you think?
As I am taking case analyses in the same school Ryan goes to, I am going to ask my existing team members in my 4th-semester case class to analyze Ryan's situation and make a professional recommendation to our professor in this Thursday's class. We will follow the process we are learning to apply in cases and most business situations and include everything we have learned in our 3+ semesters.
