Healthcare has been at the forefront of using technology to better patient outcomes. Recently, Al has been applied in medicine for many uses, for example, to look for abnormalities using imaging technology, for drug discovery by recommending effective compounds and new patient target groups and is used to run medical robots in surgery. While Al in medicine may have helped us to provide better healthcare, there are also dangers we should be aware of arising from the use of these systems. Your organisation is the peak medical body for advising the government on new initiatives in technology in healthcare. You are employed as a new project officer who has just joined a small team tasked with advising the government on the likely impacts of the widespread use of Generative Al in healthcare in Australia. The Australian government is eager to encourage the use of Al and believes the use of Generative Al has much potential as a mechanism for automating medical diagnosis. Generative Al can assist by processing and analysing large volumes of medical data, such as patient records, genetic data, medical imaging, discussion board notes and even individual doctors' notes to assist in patient diagnosis.
