You are invited by colleagues to join a collaborative research project, investigating the social and emotional wellbeing of people living in Melbourne. As a multicultural city, Melbourne is home to a variety of cultures including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. An aim of the collaborative project is to identify the elements of Melbourne life that foster social and emotional wellbeing for each cultural community. Your expertise is sought for your knowledge of the NHMRC ethical codes, especially the ATSI codes for input into working with the indigenous communities.

Drawing on your knowledge of principles of the NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and the NHMRC Ethical Guidelines for Research with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, identify THREE ethical principle/s that are relevant to this project, and explain how these can inform the design and implementation of the study.
