You work at the CITE Managed Services provider (CITEMS) as a Junior Service Desk Officer.
To help you develop your skills, your supervisor asked you to help him setup an IT System for family friends Mark and Marika.
They have plans to start a new home business providing gardening services to their local community. The gardening services include general maintenance, landscaping and rental garden services.
Mark and Marika both have been working in factory jobs and have no real IT equipment at home except for some old smart phones. For this project they need a small network to be set up to allow them to work from their home office. They would like to be able to access their emails, print any invoices and store their client’s and financial information in digital format.
Mark will be taking care of the administrative work such as taking the enquiries, preparing quotes, managing the books, and accounting. While Marika will be handling the gardening services, except when they are busy or have large jobs that would require them both to do a lot of work in and out of the office.
They need appropriate hardware and software recommendations and quotes to enable their business to be successful.
In addition to planning the hardware and software your client may require, you must also analyse their current office’s workspace and dimensions to plan for any network cabling considerations.
