Create a written team self-analysis of your team's process. It is like a debrief, where The Team thinks back on this experience and reflects on the Group Processes.

This can include commentary on the 5 Stages you may have experienced (Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing and Adjourning). Additionally, you might list Processes that Went Well and Processes Needing Improvement.

For example, perhaps the Timing of the assignment activity needs improvement since you started three days before the deadline and did not have time to fully understand what is required of you. Or it went extremely well, because you started early, asked Rob questions when the team felt confused and had the full time to accomplish your team goals.

Additional considerations from the textbook might include process variables like:

member commitment to a common purpose,

establishment of specific team goals,

team efficacy (self-confidence),

shared mental models,

a managed level of conflict,

a system of mutual accountability.

Application Activity #1

BUILD A TEAM

The development of a functional team for this exercise requires that it travels through Stages 1 through 3 of the 5 Stage Model. (Slide #16)

You cannot, at this time, go through stages #4 and #5 until you are asked to work on the next Application Activity (#2).

Right now, the task is to create a team with certain team-like characteristics as described in the chapter and prepare for the next stage (Application Assignment #2).

THE ACTIVITY TASKS

1. Assemble a TEAM

2 Establish a framework to effectively prepare for AA#2

3. Create and submit a Report.

Using information from Chapter #6 develop a framework for your Team. Gain clearer direction from Slides 19 to 29.

Include the following:

1. A defined purpose for this assignment (mission) and goals.

2. Clearly defined roles and responsibilities for each member (Slides #10, 23, 28, 29). You will have to do research and create a presentation in Application Assignment #2

3. Creation of team member behavioural norms (slide #12-15) and agreed-upon ground rules

4. A decision-making model

5. A statement about group process including a commitment to open communication, mutual accountability and appropriate self-evaluation. How will you deal with Social Loafers?

Submit only one copy of the assignment per TEAM.

This is usually done by the Team Lead.

Make sure all members are identified (with their Section number) on the cover page. Otherwise, the missing member will not get marks.

The assignment must be typed double spaced in a 12-14-point font.

It must be at a minimum of 3 pages long, not including your Cover Page or Reference Page.
