Several workers have complained that they feel more comfortable speaking their native language, Spanish, during work breaks. Also, these workers point out that they create goodwill with customers who themselves are more fluent in Spanish than English.
In reply, the Chief Diversity Officer of Textech, LLC stated that the "unauthorized speaking of any language other than English poses an unnecessary threat to the safety of all workers in the event of an emergency. The company also has received several complaints from English-speaking customers that they feel uncomfortable and shunned when, in their presence, company personnel speak Spanish to other customers."
