Throughout this chapter, we assumed that a project manager identifies and organizes the activities in a project, estimates the time required for each activity, then determines how quickly the project can be completed. However, the deadlines for some projects are fixed before any planning begins. For example, consider the planning of a New Year’s Eve celebration in the downtown area of a major city. Which, if any, of the techniques described in this chapter might be helpful in planning such an event?
