Finding log 0.03654, as shown in the calculator display in Fig. 13.11, we see that log 0.03654 = −1.4372. We note that the logarithm here is negative. This should be the case when we recall the meaning of a logarithm. Raising 10 to a negative power gives us a number between 0 and 1, and here we have 10^−1.4372 = 0.03654.
