a. You work for a traditional university as the head of the residence halls. You write a report to the dean of students to provide unsolicited information about the number of false fire alarms in the 16 campus dorms. Your purpose is to request an upgraded fire alarm system for all dorms.

b. You work as a consultant, and you’re trying to win new business from a prospective client, a software developer. You propose a training program to improve customer service skills for call center representatives. The estimated costs are $15,000.

c. You work for an independent clothing store and have been asked to compare the number of items made in China, South America, and the United States. The report will be sent to the store manager, who works on-site, and the owner, who works in another state.

d. You work for a regional bank and have been asked to research new ATMs. Your report will be sent to the chief technology officer and the head of the consumer banking division.
