ECD Practical level pdf
Instruction: In groups of THREE read the information carefully and complete the following task.
Shapes that can be measured in directions are called threedimensional shapes. These shapes are also called solids. Lengths, widths, and height depth or thickness are three measurements of threedimensional shapesD Geometry nets can be used to build models of D shapes. Geometry nets are twodimensional shapes that can be modified to form a D shape or solid.
Title: Exploring Geometric Shapes
Objective: To investigate and compare the properties of different geometric shapes, including circles, and threedimensional figures.
Requirements
Materials:
Paper
Pencil
Ruler
Compass
Protractor
Scissors
Glue
Cardboard or construction paper
Tape measure or ruler
Circles:
Use the compass to draw circles of different sizes on paper.
Measure the radius, diameter, circumference, and area of each circle.
Cut out the circles and compare the properties.
Use cardboard or construction paper to create a threedimensional cylinder and cone by rolling and cutting the paper into the appropriate shapes.
Measure the height, radius, volume, and calculate the surface area of each shape.
ThreeDimensional Figures:
Construct a net for each threedimensional figure using the paper and glue it together to create a solid shape. Cube Prism, Pyramid
Determine and record the number of edges, faces, and vertices that correspond to each shape.
Measure the dimensions of each figure length height, width and calculate the volume and surface area.
Create a presentation showcasing ALL findings, results, and diagrams of the project.
Include analysis and comparison of properties of the different geometric shapes studied in the project and compare each shape with realworld examples and describe the importance of geometry in everyday life.
