Activity - Personal Core Values Exercise Write the core values such as Flexible, Responsible, High performing, Detail oriented, Constantly Improving . Knowing what your core values is integral to being an ethical leader, as they act as guidepost that can enable you to navigate emerging challenges in our organizations and the rapidly changing world of complexity. You have your beliefs that change as you experience life and the 'otherness' of the world, but for the most part your values are formed early in life through your earlier influences (parents, siblings, community, and events, etc.). When we work in groups/teams there are a diversity of beliefs, where we all have unique lived life experiences but what is the 'glue' or gives groups commonality and cohesion is our shared values (e.g., respect, empathy, integrity, courage). Core values are what aligns us in community and organizational work...it enables us to accomplish the unachievable.

Please approach this process with intention to whole-heartedly explore, as you move through this I believe you will sense the importance of this process for you--today's leader.

Core Values instructions:

(1) Use the attached core values grid document to identify your 4-6 (recommend keeping in this range) core values.

(2) Please use the CV grid as a worksheet to formulate your core values that can be shared with others. I have populated it with my core values to give you an example of what it should look like once populated(don't let mine influence what might be yours).

This is a SELF-REFLECTIVE process. You should take time to let this percolate. if you are not sure of your core values, think about what inspires you, or what rubs you the wrong way in a conversation. These cues are telling you that something is rubbing your core values either rightly or wrongly

u can mention core values such as Flexible, Responsible, High performing, Detail oriented, Constantly Improving
