AGBS 8 LAB 1 - PERSONALITY TYPES Personality Testing Labs There are two primary types of personality assessment devices used by clinicians. Objective personality tests involve questions that can be scored without bias, such as multiple choice, true-false, or agree-disagree questions. Projective personality tests may involve having a test taker interpret inkblots, tell a story about a picture, draw a picture, or complete a series of incomplete sentences. Objective tests are then scored using a mathematical formula and the results of an individual test taker are usually offered in comparison to a large group. Clinicians like these tests because they are relatively easy to administer, offer a less biased result, and are usually statistically checked for validity and reliability. For this lab activity, you will be taking both an objective personality test. PART I: Objective Personality Test NOTE: Read all of the instructions for this activity before taking the test. Step 1: Go to the web site linked below and take the Jung Typology Test. This test is a rip-off of the famous Myers- Briggs Type Indicator. It may not be as polished of a test as the MBTI, but hey, it's free. Read the instructions and when you're ready to take the test, click the "do it!" button below the instructions. Answer each of the test items. This should only take a few minutes.Step 2: When you've finished the last test item, click the "score it" button at the bottom of the test page. You will now see a page which indicates your Jung Typology Test results. You'll see "Your Type Is" and four letters below it (like ESTJ or INFP). Immediately write down your four letter type and the strength of preference percentages below each descriptor word. You may want to print this page. After getting your basic results, there should be a link or two to other information on your stated personality type. Click on any page links provided to read more (possibly like the J. Butt description page). There you will find several brief paragraph description of your personality type. It is strongly suggested that you print one or more of these pages. You will need these results for the write-up activity. If so, click here. Step 3: Answer the following questions on the attached worksheet submit them using the Blackboard assignment submission form for this project. In your essay, be sure to address each of the following. a) Which characteristics fit you well? b) Give examples from your life experiences of the characteristics which fit you well.c) Also, which characteristics do not fit you well? d) Give examples from your life experiences of why they don't seem to fit you.
