This week we move on to gender discrimination. While the book seems to focus on issues affecting women, there are indeed many instances where these same issues can affect men. For example, the Martin Marietta case suggests that "sex plus" discrimination in this particular case involved treating women with pre-school aged children differently than men with such children. Imagine the scenario when a male is a primary caregiver of children - he could easily be subject to discrimination based on gender stereotyping, or similarly, as in this case gender-plus discrimination. Thus, it is important to remember that just like other protected characteristics, anyone can be discriminated against based on gender, race, age, etc.
