Assignment 2 - Work Breakdown Structure

You are preparing to build a simple koi pond in your backyard. You'll need to design it, buy the materials, do the work. Consider anything else you might have to do, as well.

There is no one "right" for this but there are deficient ways. Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) that:

• Uses nouns as the work packages (lowest level) - this requires some thinking!For example, if you were creating a work package for digging a hole, you would say:
• "Hole dug"
• Don't say"Dig hole."
• Is broken down toat least3 levels (not every task will go to three or more levels, but some should) andremember, the project is at the top (for this assignment, the project doesn't need a level number)
• Is numbered (1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3.) as needed
• Put thehoursfor each levelright onthe chart/list (estimate best you can), and roll them up to the next level, and finally give atotalhours' figure at the project level.

• You may take liberty with what you assume the pond will look like, the size, the materials used, where you buy the materials, and how you will do the work. Keep it simple.Everyone's WBS will look different.
• Make your own estimates - just be reasonable. Everyone's estimates will be different. Remember to put them on the WBS.

• One page is fine (if it fits). You shouldn't need more.
• Black and white is fine (no design or colors needed).
• If using Excel, indenting will help with readability (see layout image below)
