Answer each question detailed and with the specific instructions given for each.
1. Below is an email persuading a sports agent to reimburse a hospital for an unacceptable substitute speaker. Using the textbook as a guide, rewrite the following persuasive claim to be more effective, evaluating the message on organization, content, and style (such as tone and use of cliches). Proper email formatting is required.
Please send a refund of $3000, on half of the speaker's fee, for the unacceptable substitute you provided for the grand opening of the Stoneybrooke Health Center.
We thought you clearly understood that Scott MacEnvoy was our choice for the keynote speaker for this long-awaited grand opening. Not only is Scott an Olympic gold medalist and respected spokesperson for physical fitness, he is a native of Glendale, which is near our facility. Your substitute speaker, Jeannie Roswell, saved us from total embarrassment, but she failed to meet the criteria we had established for this speaker. As you know, she is neither an Olympian nor a native of our state. In fact, very few people at the event had a clue who she was. Many voiced complaints that Scott MacEnvoy was not present as we had promoted.
Considering the months of hard work we devoted to planning this event, we are sure you can understand our extremes disappointment with the community's response to this substitute speaker and will willingly agree to reimburse us one half the speaker's fee. Please call me at your earliest convenience to discuss this issue further.
2. You are looking for volunteers to help you with a community event you're organizing. Using the AIDA guidelines in the textbook, craft a persuasive message to get the help you need. (Make up the event and details to be something you are passionate about and would want to organize if you could.) The message must be at least two detailed paragraphs as long as possible and "persuasive" (not informative). Format the event as a flier, advertisement, or general promotional message, not as an email.
