Many of the personal problems that we all face relate directly to organizational behavior concepts that we will study this term. During this projectyouwill explore solutions to a personal problem that you are experiencing using outside resources as well as the text. You will develop a step-by-step action plan including the means to measure your progress.

Step 1:

Select your most important concern or problem at work, school, or in your personal life. The problem select is:

time management (self-management, goal setting, planning) My problem is time management.

Step 2:

Locate and useat least four external sources that deal with the problem you have identifiedin the process of finding solutions to your problem.Submitannotatedreferences for each source (one paragraph for each source).

Step 3:

Make certain that you restate the problem you identified in Step #1.

Develop a step-by-step plan for addressing your problem.

Your plan should includespecific targetsandcompletion datesfor each step.Your completion dates can either by actual future dates or a unit of time.

As an example, if your problem is absenteeism in your workplace your first steps might be:

  1. Contact and interview ex-employees to determine their reasons for departure.
    1. Month one
  2. Conduct an employee satisfaction survey
    1. Month two

Since you will not have the results of the ex-employee interviews and surveys you will have to move forward with your plan assuming the problem stems from the type of causes you studied in this course or learned about from your external research. As an example:

  1. Implement a limited flexible hour policy for office staff
    1. Month three

Step 4:

Make certain that you restate the problem you identified in Step #1.

Develop a measurement plan that allows you to determine the level of success achieved by your plan.

As an example, you might begin by collecting the turnover rate and absenteeism of the prior year to use as a benchmark.

Step 5:

Submit a paperthat includes yourproblem description, andyour step-by-step plan.Your plan should includespecific targets or goalsand ameasurement planthat details how you will be able to determine if your plan met those goals.

Your paper should explain why you believe your solution will be effective as well as its strengths and weaknesses.Your explanation should include at least3 properly referenced citationsfrom our text or your external sources.

In a second paper, address each of the following questions:

  • What did you learn about yourself while working on this problem solution?
  • What was the most difficult part of the process?
  • How happy were you with the outcome of the solution you developed?
  • In what manner would you use knowledge gained from your course problem to help with business-related problems you may encounter in the future
