$1$g$.$ Enter the variable name for our first variable $($ID$)$ in the $$name$$ column on the variable view. You can call it whatever you like, but it cannot have any spaces. $($Options: ID; ParticipantID; etc$).$ Now enter the rest of the variable names in the rows below it$.$

$1$h$.$ The $$type$$ column indicates whether we$$re going to be entering numbers, words, or something else for our variables. It does not indicate what type of variable we have, just what type of data we$$re going to be entering. $1$i$.$ The $$width$$ column indicates how many digits$/$letters can fit when we$$re doing our data entry. If we$$re entering paragraphs of text for a string variable, we want to make this wider. Otherwise the current width is fine.
