Consider a work station with one worker and n identical machines producing a single part type. The machine processing (operation) of a part takes 35 minutes. Once the machine begins processing it completes the operation automatically and does not need worker supervision. Raw work parts are loaded to the machine and finished work parts are unloaded from the machine by the worker. Loading and unloading each takes 2 minute. The worker must also prepare new work parts before loading and inspect completed work parts after unloading but both of these tasks can be done while the machine is processing another part. Preparation takes 4 minute and inspection takes 2 minutes. Besides worker has two walk between machines which is proportional to the number of machines thus walking time (n-1) minutes.
