1) I think that recruiters should be allowed to exclude people outside of the image that they portray. (371). the whole reason people go to Hooters is for the experience of being around women. If Hooters starts to steer away from this, they will lose business because people aren't getting the experience that they want. "The ability to adapt is especially vital when customers have different interaction styles." (371). Most people aren't going to bring their kids to Hooters because there are half-naked women around. For the restaurant, they have to have different options for people who want to work there, that aren't on the sales floor.I personally work as a server. There have been many different places that I have worked at, that have different policies. For instance, at my old store, I had to wear makeup and had to have my hair done. This is just so that your appearance is appealing to the customers. I think that for these types of places, the negatives are that people will get upset. Women at Hooters have to be a certain size to work there, and if you don't fit that, you won't get hired. I think that a negative for that is that you are stereotyping people. It could look bad to some people. As the textbook said, appearance education, and age are huge characteristics for a salesperson. This is true for all different types of jobs, and while it may hurt your feelings, this is the standard that these people have set. It may have nothing to do with your ability, but they aren't going to change their way of things.

2) While people tend to have more leisure time than before, it is true that we often feel more rushed or pressured throughout the day. Time poverty refers to the feeling of having less time than the required to accomplish things in a day. Time poverty is an upcoming issue that is, according to the book, more of a perception issue than a fact. That is merely because we have more options and/or information overload (358). The reality of our new society is that in this digital era we are bombarde with excessive amounts of information and we often feel compelled to keep our schedules busy, and this could make us feel that we are not doing enough due to lack of time (359). I do not think about it as much, but I believe I have experienced time poverty almost on a daily basis. I could not agree more with the reasoning because my life is a reflection of those. I am working Monday through Thursdays 7-4:30 PM, by that time I just want to get out of the house so I pre-arrange activities like going to the gym, grocery store, a walk or a class. When I come back home it is probably dark and I still want to be able to cook clean, read a book or do schoolwork, watch tv and shower. Although my weeks are not always the same, it is fair to say that most of the time I end up experiencing time poverty.
