Create a brief social media plan for your chosen brand. Keep in mind that your brand/company has only one part-time employee in charge of social media. This part-time employee is not extensively trained in social media, so s/he requires detailed instruction on how to execute each piece of the social media plan. Your plan should include all five steps :
Determine ONE KEY objective
While typically the company would have multiple objectives, for the purpose of this exercise, choose ONE that you think would best fit the selected brand.
Choose the social media platform(s)
List the platform(s) the employee will actively maintain. Justify your choice of platforms (high participation among target market, best targeting capabilities, high engagement potential, etc.)
- Plan the content
- Details matter here! The part-time employee will be executing your content plan so s/he needs to be given:
- A breakdown of content types (original, user-generated, co-created, curated)
- Media types (images w/captions, videos, GIFs, plain text)
- Style guide
- Breakdown of value appeals (utilitarian, entertainment, community)
- At least 2 examples of possible content
Distribute and promote content
Provide rough guidelines for targeting (demographics, psychographics, etc.)...choose only two-five for the purpose of this exercise
Measure success
- Determine the most important metric for the employee to be checking regularly as a sign of good performance (likes, followers, growth rate, video viewing stats, etc.)
