A mixed methods approach will be used, employing a quantitative survey approach that will provide insight from ISGs that have been in existence for a minimum of two years to provide insight on utilization of BFIs and NFBIs or the lack thereof.$$

A systematic review of existing literature from peer$-$reviewed academic journals, institutional reports, databases as well as grey literature will be conducted to provide additional insight and learning of potentials and challenges that exist $`$between ISGs and BFIs and NFBIs from similar contexts.$$

In person interviews and surveys will be used to provide both quantitative data and qualitative narratives to compliment survey results targeting representatives of formal banking institutions, non$-$banking financial institutions, regulatory agencies, and government officials will be interviewed in a thorough and comprehensive manner.
