Creating Presentations Using Presentation Software

To gain practice using presentation software such as PowerPoint, create a sequence of 6 to 8 slides on dormitory noise level etiquette. Your audience is newly-arrived first-year college students who may never have lived away from home before and may be unaware of how playing loud music, talking on their cell phones, and speaking in the hallway may disturb other students' concentration.

As you create your slide show, consider your audience carefully (how much do they already know, what unites them, what is their interest level, what do you want them to do after your presentation, what questions might they raise); format your slide show to include an introduction, body, and conclusion; and follow the guidelines for text, sequencing, background/color, and graphics. For graphics, use images downloaded from the Web, such as clip art.
