DEI Reflection Paper Assignment Criteria & Grading Rubric Background: Numerous events, films, speakers, and workshops related to social injustices surround us these days. Many include virtual options due to the pandemic, so there is even more access online. I have posted some examples of various DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) events both on and off campus, films, and podcasts. This is just a starting point. If you find something you want to explore, just check with Instructions: You will write a brief (about 2 pages double spaced) paper that addresses the following: A short description of the event you participated in (what, where (if not virtual), when, who sponsored the event), the film you watched (title and description of the film), or the podcast you listened to (title, host, any pertinent sponsors). A short narrative of the experience you had during the event, film, or podcast that challenged or supported your beliefs, illuminated course content in a new way, or raised new questions for you. Include your reaction to this experience (e.g., surprised, angered, excited, confident, disappointed, energized, knowledgeable, etc.). An analysis that connects your experience with issues of public health and social justice. What do you think should be done at a societal or policy level to address the issue(s) you identified from your experience?
