Check the adequacy of the cleated beam-to-column connection displayed in Figure 8 to resist a design (factored) shear force, Ved, = 250kN. Make all necessary checks according to Eurocode 3. Make appropriate assumptions for any missing data. If any part of the connection fails, find an alternative that does pass, and progress to the following check. • The beam is a UB 356 x 171 x 67 (D = 363, B = 173, tw = 9.1, t+= 15.7). • The column is a UC 203 x 203 x 60 (D = 210, B= 206, tw = 9.4, t= 14.2).
