For your final paper in this class, you are each to choose a topic that 1) interests you; 2) fits under the umbrella of integrated marketing communication; and 3) has components related to one or more of the four core attributes - ethics, diversity, global awareness and social justice. Your final paper will run at least 2500 words, and should include at least ten references, cited in your paper and listed in a reference sheet following academic style (APA, MLA or Turabian/Chicago. The choice is yours, but you need to be consistent throughout your paper). Your research should show that you have investigated your chosen issue thoroughly. Ten references are the minimum required, and may be sufficient; if not, do more. You will be graded on 1) the significance of your chosen topic and its relationship to the core attributes and to integrated marketing communication; 2) your ability to present the issue and your evidence, cogently and accurately; and 3) the quality of your writing. As a reminder: I welcome and encourage opinion and independent thought. This is not the sort of class in which you need to repeat back to me things that I have said, nor do you need to agree with my point of view, real or perceived. You are all seniors, fully actualized adults, almost college graduates, and therefore by now should be critical thinkers, which means that you are capable of making up your own mind. What I DO require is that you defend your perspective or point of view with evidence. In other words, don't just express an opinion, but support that opinion with facts and evidence. Acceptable evidence includes studies, research, data, reporting from a reliable source, and anecdotes. As always, if you have questions or concerns as you work on this final project, please feel free to send me an email.
