Overview of Assignment

Transportation creates place utility through the movement of goods. To achieve their logistics objectives, organizations are often faced with several strategic transportation decisions to be made. In the logistics world, a warehouse that is used to hold and sort material for distribution to customers, other companies, and other warehouses is called a distribution center. A large company that distributes products across the entire country might have a series of distribution centers servicing specific geographical territories or specific end markets Students will work independently creating a preparation work for the report for the chosen company, to achieve their supply objectives. Organizations are often faced with several strategic transportation and warehouse decisions to be made and for this research information needs to be collected.

Instructions: There are two parts to this project with the final research to be submission to be submitted online.

Identify the contribution of logistics in improving organizational supply chains

Examine the complexities of inventory in supply chain.

Understanding delivery lead-time and impact on business operation

Differentiate between business models and their strategic role in supply chain

Once you have chosen the existing company that you will be researching for both part one & part two, begin your research on the company and supply chain objectives. Here are a few things to take look at as you initiate for your research report.
