In this day and age, companies are drastically more diverse than in the past. It is important to have a diverse workplace as it is essential to have different points of view in the workplace. If a company does not have a diverse workplace it can certainly come across negatively to the public eye. To increase diversity within the workplace you could start with building a more diverse interview and managerial team. Additionally, you could state that "racial and ethnic diversity are 35 percent more likely to have financial returns above national industry medians," (Robbins, S. P., & Coulter, M. K. 2018) to exclaim to your superior that diversity is an important aspect to understand your target audience more. Every person has specific biases or schema towards people unlike them as it is human nature. To combat this, company retreats, group exercises, and team bonding activities can be extremely helpful in the inclusion of others. A possible pitfall of having an extremely diverse workforce is that they will certainly not agree on everything. However, this could be beneficial as all humans come from different backgrounds with different experiences, and to truly reach a larger target audience, you need to have diverse perspectives.

I feel like workplace environments are always changing, growing, evolving, etc. Creating a diverse workforce should always begin with the hiring process. The company should look at and evaluate the level of diversity that is in the organization. Then how they can create more diversity through their hiring process, bringing in different people from age, sex, ethnicity, backgrounds, etc. They could also highlight diversity on their webpage. "Be sure your companys diversity statement and any current initiatives are obvious on your career page and reference it in every job description that is being offered" (Carwford, 2021). Diversity in the workplace can increase and expand innovation and creativity amongst employees. Diversity can increase employee productivity, engagement as well as employee retention. Employees can essentially feel more comfortable in a diverse environment in the workforce. I feel like when the environment is more diverse, employees will look forward to going to work and the morale will continue to increase and have a positive impact on employees as well as the organization. A diverse work environment is important but inclusion is also important. Organizations should also ensure that everyone also has equal opportunities to contribute, make sure everyone feels comfortable enough to bring their own unique and innovative selves to the workforce.
