How many components (parts) are there in a dissertation? What should you write in each part?

For example, when you write a dissertation, the first component(part) at the very beginning is a cover with the information on the title, the author, the major of the author, his/her dissertation advisor and so on; The end of a dissertation is normally an appendix, with extra information the author wants to supplement.
