I am trying to write personal developmental goal n a customer service call center around team work and collaboration and inspires others"
Notes:
I have attached a document that highlights the Collaboration and Teamwork Competency with the Inspire and Motivate Others and Honesty & Integrity from the manual. I have highlighted items that seem to fit what you are trying to do with your development plan. See if you can refine and focus your document around these. You might need to put the external customer outside of this plan as it doesnt quite fit Collaboration and Teamwork. It is more in External Customer. That said, there is room to model your behaviors with the external customer to inspire your team to act with others in the organization who may be partners or customers of theirs. Lastly, when identifying actions try to identify the benefit of achieving your goal
Document:
Collaboration and Teamwork
Behaviors Defining This Competency
- Promotes a spirit of cooperation within the work group .
- Champions an environment that supports effective teamwork .
- Has the trust and respect of the team .
- Develops cooperative working relationships with others in the company .
- Takes into account how personal actions affect the team .
- Fosters a climate of trust and respect within the team .
- Removes barriers to positive team performance .
- Proactively addresses conflicts and disagreements that affect team effectiveness .
- Models teamwork by working effectively with other leaders in the organization .
- Ensures that the team collaborates well with other groups and departments .
Honesty and Integrity
When a friendship ends, one of the most frequent reasons for strain in the relationship is dishonesty: They said one thing and did another! Sometimes this failure to walk the talk is the result of miscommunication, and other times it is one person taking advantage of a situation . Whatever the reasons, it is impossible to develop teamwork when team members question the honesty or integrity of their leader .
- Show others the utmost respect . Treat others with consideration and respect . Honesty is something attributed to you by others . It starts with them knowing that you understand their ideas and their situations .
- Take responsibility when things go wrong . Avoid blaming others when things go wrong . Those who blame others will not be perceived as honest and having integrity while those who accept responsibility are perceived as honest .
- Magnify trust . Work to improve the trust that others have in you . Be reliable . Act with consistency . Maintain warm relationships with others . When there is a lack of trust, others will make negative attributions about your integrity or honesty .
Inspires and Motivates Others
Leaders who achieve high levels of teamwork and collaboration know how to inspire and motivate other people . To get team members and groups to work well together takes more than just asking people to cooperate . Leaders who can inspire and motivate are able to help others to move beyond their typical approaches and collaborate with each other .
- Set goals as a team . Involve your team in identifying and adopting a difficult stretch goal . When people accomplish an imposing objective they are more motivated and engaged . nothing unites a team more than pursuing a challenging goal and successfully completing it .
- Incessantly repeat highest priority goals . Keep the team focused on the highest priority goals and objectives . Remind everyone of the reasons these targets were selected and what payoff they will have . Do not allow your team to become distracted by other issues that keep them from achieving their goal . Enlist their help in keeping high priorities at the top of everyones mind .
- Convey your personal passion . Frequently convey your own passion and commitment about the work you are doing . your emotions are extremely contagious . your tone of voice and the expression on your face communicate far more than the words you speak . you are the strongest force for creating high levels of engagement and commitment among your people.
Communicates Powerfully and Prolifically
Having the ability to communicate clearly and influence others is one of the key ingredients in building effective teams . Teamwork cannot be built without clear and consistent communication . Misunderstandings or lack of information frequently frustrate individuals and produce negative results .
- Make presentations memorable via stories . Use stories, examples, illustrations, or parables to augment every major point you seek to make . The stories will be remembered when the abstractions are long forgotten .
- Put yourself in the audience . Begin by asking yourself, What would I want to know or learn more about if I were sitting in the audience? and What are their biggest concerns as it pertains to this matter? Then be sure to speak to those issues .
- Light the pathway . Create a simple structure for every major communication that begins by describing the current situation; explains the current problem, issue, or complication; discusses the alternative courses of action; and then concludes by presenting your recommendation and the reasons for it .
