In tecnomatix Plant Simulation, solve this problem and put images of the stations:

You are a producer of NEMA 17 stepper motors and should design your plant layout according to your own sources:

1 Stator Supplier.

1 Aluminum supplier to manufacture the casing

1 Arrow Provider

1 rotor supplier

1 box supplier

1 truck service to send the final product

The activities (Operations) to be performed and displayed in your distribution are:

Aluminum Cutting Section

Machining Section

Machining of the motor casing

Shaft turning

Assembly Section

Rotor and shaft assembly

Housing 1 assembly with stator

Final assembly of casing 2 with previous assembly.

Cutting Station: The material must be cut to carry out the machining operations. This operation requires 15 minutes before transfer.

Machining station consists of 3 lines. Each line has a buffer and a pick and place robot to transfer the cut parts to the machining stations. o Mill 1 has an efficiency of 95% and an MTTR repair time of 10 minutes. o Mill 2 has an efficiency of 98% and an MTTR repair time of 4 minutes. o Mill 3 has an efficiency of 45% and an MTTR repair time of 25 minutes. o After that, we will have a buffer and a pick and place robot that leads to the next station.

The turning station (another frame) only has 1 line to manufacture the arrows and has a buffer and a robot pick and place to transfer the arrows.

Then the motor assembly station (a frame for it and connect the 2 inputs of the Machining and Turning frames).

Rotor and stator suppliers provide via a separate (15 meter) conveyor. And there are 1 frame for the 2 assembly operations (1 minute in each one, where the Rotor, Stator and the machined parts are assembled, this subassembly can be called a pre-assembly; later the previous subassembly plus the turning shaft would be assembled) which is will call engine and inspection (1 minute) before heading to the next station. All providers work under the just-in-time scheme. And the inspection stations generate 5% scrap for us. The previous assembly is taken by a robot with buffer (15 capacity) to the last station.

There are only 3 packing lines and the packing box is sent directly to the packers. Most of the processes presented above were automated except for this one. Where the packing stations have 3 operators Operator 1, Operator 2 and Operator 3 (one next to the other). Operator 3 is the most efficient of all when packing at 100%, Operator 2 at 50%, while Operator 1 is slower than Operator 2 by 50%. After packing, they have to walk and follow the instructions for the packing section.

After packing, the boxes will go to the Transport frame where there will be 1 station to load the truck and another station to unload the truck. You have a path of 100 meters covered in 20 seconds.

Finally, the packed engines are transferred for shipment.

Answer the following questions:

How many pieces resulted from scrap?
