Information Interview assignment

Part 5

Purpose:

• It is now time to apply what we have done so far by conducting an interview with another person.

Instructions:

• Conduct an interview with another person. Students will be responsible for identifying their candidate by name and for providing the following information:

1. email address
2. employment position
3. institution
4. relationship to the interviewer.

*.5-point penalty per category for not mentioning this information

• This assignment is a two-part assignment consisting of an:

1) interview script

2) a two-page paper

1. Interview script (5 points)

• Interview script must be 20 questions.
• Interview script must incorporate 2 questions per question category. (Chapter 4)
• Interview script must include answers taken from your respondent.

2. Interview paper (5 points)

• Answer the following questions in your paper:

a. What did you learn from this interview?

b. What expectations did you hold prior to the interview being conducted?

c. How did your expectations change after the interview was conducted?

d. Do you think you would be able to replicate the effectiveness of this interview if you were the interviewee as opposed to the interviewer? Why or why not?

e. What aspects of this interview assignment would you need to most focus on if you were expected to be interviewed? Why? (choose one of the five parts of the entire Interview assignment and justify why you believe this to be the most important part to focus on)

• Both parts of this assignment are required. Incomplete assignments net zero credit.

*Your interview script (list of questions used during an interview) should follow the same process used to develop your content in other areas of this assignment.

**Paper needs to follow the basic guidelines: Intro-Body-Conclusion format, Times New Roman font, 12-point font size, 1-inch margins and double spaced. Cite sources accordingly when needed.
