Marketing Engineering Term Project Introduction: You need to think of yourself as a marketing engineering consultant providing a consultation to some company about how to enhance their existing products (introduce product in a new market) or develop new products to meet a marketing opportunity. You need to analyze the market of a specific product of your choice, with the main objective of finding a marketing opportunity. Then you will need to design a product that can be used to meet the identified opportunity. The project should include complete marketing analysis using one of the following tools: o Segmentation and targeting only. For products with large number of attributes Complete STP process. For products with large number of attributes o 0 STP analysis followed by a BASS study. o Conjoint analysis Choosing your product: You need to choose a product that you have enough information about, i.e you should be able to identify the product's major attributes, and the customer group(s) that you will be investigating. Examples of project/product ideas may include: Design a new fast food restaurant. Design a new beverage (soft-drinks, juice, etc.) Design a new hair shampoo, bar soap, or tooth paste Design a new phone service plan Design a new vacation package General requirements concerning the data collection: Number of competing products: Between 5 to 10 products Number of attributes: Between 4-8 attributes Number of customers (sample size): At least 40. Deliverables: Project report (10 pages maximum, not including appendices) All data gathered, including data collection tools such as questionnaires (if used) Participation in the survey: Each student registered in the Engineering Marketing class during this semester (Fall-2020/2021) should be willing to help other students by filling their survey, if needed.
