As a young adult working in the food and entertainment industry, I have been in multiple ethical dilemmas myself. While overcoming primary professional obstacles, it is substantially difficult not to have collateral considerations in between. In this scenario, we have a few considerations and variables, these are: First, we know about Josh's rumors about 15 percent of the staff being fired within the next 120 days. We also know that it is a "reliable source". Second, there is an email that was accidentally sent to me about 3 members of my team, including a good friend of mine, that the department is considering letting go. To solve this ethical dilemma in the workplace, It is needed to support the decision with a few principles. These are legal, parties, alternatives, and agreeance points of view. The issue relies on whether I should disclose, and disseminate information, or not. According to the principles that I have decided to apply to get through the dilemma, there is not a bidding legal duty to say or not. I have not seen my name involved, however I know my very good friend is. I also have multiple alternatives on how to proceed in this case. Moreover, I can only find agreement on the matter with external parties which is sort of helpful. The first step would be ignoring Josh's rumors because they are simply not professional, and would most likely hurt the employee's performance. I would also talk personally with Josh about the consequences of spreading information that he himself cannot make official. The second step I would take would be to inform my supervisor about the email. I would briefly let him know about the importance of this sort of technological mistake for future reference, and maybe suggest a "Tech- seminar" for the employees to bring awareness to the matter. The third step, according to me, would be for me not to share the information with anyone because it was not meant to be received by me, therefore, it is not in my hands to deliver it. Even though, I would want to know myself if I was involved in the email, I would not expect to be told by a third person, not even from my good friend. Ultimately, my position as a team player and my responsibilities lead me to at the minimum actively engage with my team and help everyone to become the best version of themselves professionally because team work makes the dream work. These ethical decisions have come to me in the past, and I have applied my experience and the best of the resources from the lecture to come up with the solution.
