Case Study:

Pablo G. is the experienced pilot of a medium-sized airplane that is flying between Hong Kong and Madrid. The plane is full of passengers and the weather is awful. A flight attendant informs Pablo that a passenger, a middle-aged man, has suffered a heart attack and that although a doctor onboard is attending to him, he will most likely die unless he is taken immediately to a hospital. Pablo radios for an emergency landing in the closest city but is denied because of the terrible weather conditions gusting winds and heavy rain. He has two choices: travel to Madrid, in which case the passenger will probably die, or perform an emergency landing in bad weather and endanger his crew and his passengers.
