The COVID-19 pandemic affected many people in the U.S whether it was emotionally, physically, financially, etc. As we have talked about in this class, the cost of healthcare has risen as years go by, but it especially rose after the pandemic. As the prices rise, the health of people is declining because some people cant afford healthcare. Many people lost their jobs or got sick which affected their income and even three years later, there are a lot of people who are still trying to get back on their feet. Although I think healthcare should be free because it is a basic necessity, it is not realistic. Instead, I think the cost of healthcare should be discounted for everyone because nobody, whether you have a high or low income, should pay thousands of dollars for healthcare. I also think there should be payment plans without consequences (like a hit to your credit score.) Of course if you arent paying your medical bill just because you dont want to, then there should be a consequence, but if you are unable to pay that month's payment because for example you lost your job or you started to get paid less at your job, then that is a valid reason.
