A team is a group of people who work together to complete a task or reach a common goal.

Functional team: A team of employees from the same area or department who perform the routine tasks in their job description.

Ex; severs on evening shift perform before opening duties, sever guests, and perform closing duties.

Problem-solving team: A temporary team of employees selected to solve a specific problem.

Ex; a group of severs gets sat with a 30 top party and have to decide how the tables and checks will be split between each other.

Cross-functional team: A team of employees from different departments who consider problems that impact their areas and the operation as a whole.

Ex; a nutritionist, restaurant manager, food production personal, and marking director help plan a new and healthier menu.

Self- directed team: A small group of employees who manage many daily issues within their functional team with little supervision.

Ex; front of house staff work together to deliver support services to guest.

Mea Respond 2:

A team is a group of people that work together to complete something. The types of teams are; Functional team, problem solving team, cross functional team, and self directed team.

A functional team is where a a group of people with the same job complete tasks that are a part of their job. For example a group of servers completing their opening tasks like making sweet tea and stocking ice.

A problem solving team is a randomly selected group of people that come together to complete a task that doesnt happen as often. An example of this would be cooks pressure washing the walls of the walk in and pulling shelves away.

A cross functional team is similar to a problem solving team although the groups do not have to be from one specific department or job description. They solve more problems that can be looked at to benefit the business as a whole. For example, managers from both FOH and BOH as well as a menu specialist can all come together in order to discuss a menu analysis to figure out what menu items are stars, dogs, plow horses, or puzzles in order to see if they need to be changed or taken off the menu.

A self directed team is a team that is more employee led rather than manager led. Like cooks planning to pull back equipment and do a deep clean.
