Please write answer out: Answer 3

1. Summarize the business-non profit idea in 50 words or less.

A non-profit business targeted to high school students that focuses on financial literacy. The intent of the program is to help educate students on real world financial encounters. This will prepare at-risks students with the basic financial foundation to help them enter the workforce or begin their lives financially educated.

2. Identify the source of your idea as specifically as possible.

The current curriculum in the majority of public schools in the United States today offers the main general courses like English, Math, Science, Arts/Music and Social Studies. While many high schools also offer a number of electives for juniors and seniors, none of these electives offer a preparation course into real world opportunities.

It was noted that once in college many of my peers would complain about how we were never taught basic financial skills that every human needs regardless of the career they choose. Public schools unfortunately never taught us what taxes are, how to build resumes, how to go on interviews, how to build a healthy credit, how to apply for a credit card, how to fill out the tax information for payroll and numerous essential information. Many of us were lucky enough to have a parent or mentor to help guide us in the right path. Yet there are many students out there that are not so lucky and only learn these skills after making grave financial mistakes.
