Problem 3 (15 points) Create a swimlane chart
Problem 3 (15 points) Create a swimlane chart based on the process described below. Be sure to accurately use the symbols shown in the example provided in class. Feel free to fill in any process steps that are implied but not explicitly spelled out. The flow of labor and delivery at Arborage Women's Hospital follows these steps. First, the mother-to- be enters the hospital's labor and delivery check-in desk entrance. If the baby has been born in route or birth is imminent, the mother and baby are immediately taken by elevator to a neonatal floor by a member of the transport team. An admitting clerk then arrives to register and admit the mother at bedside. The clerk enters the paperwork from registration and admitting into the hospital's computer system so that processes and materials can be charged to the account as they are incurred. The clerk creates the bar codes and wrist bands so that mother, baby, and items used can be correctly tracked throughout the inpatient stay. If the baby is not yet born, the front desk checks to see if she is pre. registered. Most mothers are registered by the 28 to 30 week pregnancy point, but if she is not, she is taken by an admitting clerk to the registration office. If she has already registered prior to arrival, a member of the transport team takes her directly to the labor and delivery triage department for assessment. A nurse will conduct an intake exam to see where the mother is in the labor process. If the mother is ready to deliver, the nurse will summon her doctor and move her to a special labor and delivery room until the baby is born. If the mother is not ready, for example, she experienced false labor pains or there are no contractions, the nurse will send her home to return on a later date. If her contractions aren't quite close enough, the mother will be asked to walk around the hospital grounds to encourage progress. The mother will return to labor and delivery triage when contractions are closer. If there are complications with the mother, a team of nurses and doctors will take her to an operating room or intensive care unit to deliver the baby. After the baby is born, the mother and baby are taken by the transport team to a mother/baby care room where they will remain until discharged. When mother and baby are ready to be discharged, they are taken by wheelchair to the patient pickup area by a member of the transport team so they can be taken home
