Choose a peer-reviewed research article in occupational therapy that was published within the last two years. This article must be a quantitative research study (No case studies, no grounded theory research, no meta-analyses, etc.).

Analyze the article using the CRAAP test and support that is a useful/valid/credible resource.

Identify the hypothesis of the research study.

Identify the population of interest and the sampling strategy used to obtain participants. How many participants were in the study and what was the demographic breakdown?

Identify the variables in the study. What is being examined or measured?

For the variables, provide an operational definition, identify the instruments or strategies used to collect data on each of the variables, and identify the scale of measurement for the data related to each variable under examination. For each of the instruments, discuss the data related to the validity and reliability of each.

Discuss possible problems with the validity and/or reliability of the entire study. Why should you interpret the outcomes with caution? Identify any ethical considerations possibly associated with the research study. What might an IRB have considered an area of concern?

  • Generate your own Informed Consent document that could be given to participants based upon the nature of the study and attach the example Informed Consent document as an appendix to your paper.
  • What were the outcomes of the study (stated in non-technical terms). What were the descriptive statistics? How will this knowledge impact your future practice of Occupational Therapy? Answer the PICO questions for this article. What is the level of evidence?
